Serve them warm with powdered sugar, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or a drizzle of caramel sauce for a restaurant-style dessert at home.
Ingredients:
For the apple filling:
- 3 medium apples (Granny Smith or Red Delicious), peeled and finely diced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for extra flavor)
For assembly:
- 8–10 egg roll wrappers
- Oil for frying (vegetable or sunflower oil)
Optional for serving:
- Powdered sugar
- Vanilla ice cream
- Caramel or chocolate sauce

Instructions:
- Make the filling:
- In a skillet, add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, cornstarch, and butter if using.
- Cook over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples soften and the mixture thickens.
- Let it cool slightly before using.
- Assemble the rolls:
- Place an egg roll wrapper in a diamond shape.
- Add 1–2 tablespoons of filling to the center.
- Fold the bottom up, then fold in the sides, and roll tightly.
- Seal the edge with a bit of water.
- Fry:
- Heat oil to 175–180°C (350°F).
- Fry rolls for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve:
- Dust with powdered sugar.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce if desired.
Tips:
- No egg roll wrappers? Use thin pastry sheets cut to size.
- Healthier option: Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 15–18 minutes instead of frying.
- Add crunch: Mix in some chopped walnuts or almonds to the filling.
- Other fruit options: Try pears, peaches, or berries.
Storage:
- Fridge: Store in an airtight container up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to keep them crispy.
- Freezer: Freeze un-fried rolls and fry directly from frozen.
